Wednesday, July 18, 2007: Bell brings together rock and orchestra stars in support of Canadian athletes' journey to the podium

Bell, Suzie McNeil and Canada's National Arts Centre Orchestra partner to produce an Olympic and Paralympic-inspired music video

OTTAWA, Ontario, July 18 /CNW Telbec/ - As Premier National Partner of
the 2010 Winter Games and a long-time supporter of the arts, Bell is pleased
to bring together Canada's top talent in the fields of both sport and culture
to produce an Olympic and Paralympic-inspired music video that chronicles the
journey of Canada's athletes on the road to 2010.
In addition to Suzie McNeil and the world-renowned National Arts Centre
(NAC) Orchestra, Bell is collaborating with director Stephen Scott, composer
David Pierce and two-time Olympian Steve Omischl to produce an exclusive,
rock-meets-orchestra recording and music video for McNeil's song called
Believe.
"At Bell, our goal is to ensure that all Canadians are connected to the
Olympic and Paralympic experience which is a celebration of both sport and
culture," said Loring Phinney, Vice President Corporate and Olympic Marketing,
Bell. "We are excited to bring together the talents of Suzie McNeil and the
NAC Orchestra in Canada's capital to combine creative forces on this project.
The result will be an inspiring piece of music and video that will embody the
passion and drive of our nation's athletes in their journey to 2010, a special
journey that Canadians will be able to share in through this initiative."
For two days, starting on July 17, all of the partners will come together
to provide artistic and technical input into the production of the recording
and music video.
"It's an honour to be working with Bell and the NAC Orchestra to record
this special edition of Believe, a song that speaks to the power of dreams,"
said Suzie McNeil. "I have always been a huge fan of the Olympic and
Paralympic Games and the Cultural Olympiad. I want Believe to help raise
awareness about our athletes and motivate Canadians to support them."
Believe was originally recorded by McNeil on her latest album called
Broken and Beautiful.
"We are thrilled to be a part of this project and to be a part of
Canada's national journey towards excellence in 2010," said Christopher
Deacon, Managing Director of the NAC Orchestra. "Through this initiative, we
are able to extend our commitment to collaborate with great artists from
across Canada, and organizations such as Bell that share our passion for the
arts."
The Olympic and Paralympic-inspired music video and track will be
released later this year, with a special invitation for Canadians to get
involved in unique ways to support Canada's athletes. Additional information
will be available in the fall.
